It’s easy to ready with a great screen that is quite vibrant. I was able to find the flagstick without any problem on the course.
I was also able to get in many targets under 8 seconds. This was really nice with the 6x magnification. Some continuous scans go up to 20+ seconds. I don’t think they are necessary after using this.

I like these single button designs. It makes everything so simple to use and I still get remarkable accuracy. It only has 4x magnification though. I’d like it better if this had 6x magnification and a longer continuous scan option.
I love that the range is around 600 yards though. Tested it out a couple times and it seems to be really accurate. The case that came with it was ok. I just kept it in my pocket the entire time anyway.
This felt like pretty solid construction as well. The case the company included was pretty decent quality too.

This one offers angle measurement too. This feature has really helped me improve my game quickly. I usually don’t use this feature out on the course and I was surprised how well it worked. Knowing the elevation that I was hitting made me feel more prepared.

This gives accurate readings and can measure over 500 yards. Continuous measurement worked pretty well. 20 seconds is long time and I was surprised because I originally only thought it was suppose to be 8 seconds. It does feel like it was cheaply produced though. It will work in a pinch without question. I don’t really think it compares to the other options on our list.
I looked around for more reviews on this product but there wasn’t much out there. A few people seem to think the construction was better than I did.

There are a couple of things you’ll want to take into consideration before you put down money on your laser rangefinder. Some of these factors may differ by vendor. You’ll want to think about which items are most important to you before you ready our product reviews.
How to Choose The Best Golf Rangefinder Under $200
Accuracy
Even under $200, rangefinders are generally accurate within 1 yard. Some more advanced rangefinders can measure distance accurately within .5 yard. Accuracy also depends on the ability for the rangefinder to lock onto a target accurately.
Finding the flag is one of the major features that I like to take advantage of on continuous mode. That is when you press the button once or hold it and get a few seconds to mark targets or check for the flagstick distance. Most of the models here worked pretty well with this feature. Many of them have enough time that you can get accurate results on multiple targets in one go.
Range
The further you are from your target the less accuracy you’ll get if you are outside recommended range. This can also happen naturally as your hand may shake a little bit while you’re holding the rangefinder. Manufacturers list their recommended range on their highlighted features. It is important that this can be measured through some loose obstacles.
Ranges for many options at this price point are often accurate between 5 and 800 yards. Some advanced rangefinders are accurate up to 1,000 yards and above.
Size and Weight
Make sure your rangefinder is small and light. Carrying it all over the golf course will get annoying if it is too heavy or large. Manufacturers generally offer lightweight and compact options for this reason.
Some manufacturers will also give you a carrying case to go with your rangefinder. This is great when you want to store it in your bad. Otherwise you’ll wind up scratching up your rangefinder in no time. Most of them are resilient and will still work though.
Also make sure that batteries come with your rangefinder. You don’t want to get all the way home and realize you still need to pick these up.
Easy to Use
Rangefinders don’t need to be difficult to operate. Find one that has few buttons and still has a long list of features. You’re out on the course to have fun and shouldn’t need a technical manual to use your device. Many models out today include a single button interface or a two button interface.
Other easy of use options include the ability to measure multiple targets with the touch of a single button. More advanced models can separate the flagstick from the background without any issue.
Eye Relief
Eye strain when using a rangefinder can ruin your day. Make sure to test out different kinds of rangefinders to get a feel for different options. You will be switching back and forth a lot. Comfort and ease of use is important.
Make sure that your rangefinder screen looks sharp too. Usually these are made with LCD screens. They vary in quality and some are just easier on the eyes than others. You will want one that you won’t mind looking at all day long on the course. I would recommend you think about what it will look like if there is a large amount of glare.
Slope Adjustment
Many rangefinders use a laser that only measures straight distances. Some advanced models can measure slope adjustment as well. This information about elevation differences can help you adjust and overcome your handicap.
These can be considered cheating by some. When you are alone on the course working on your game they come in handy. I’ve seen some really big improvements using this technology. I recommend trying it sometime and see what it may offer.
Final Verdict
There are a lot of good picks on the list to choose from. For a while it looked like Nikon 8397 ACULON AL11 Laser Rangefinder was going to win. But I have found that the TecTecTec VPRO500 Golf Rangefinder – Laser Range Finder with Pinsensor is a best buy on the list. It had a good feel during play and looks really stylish too.
